According to film site IESB.net, budgetary concerns are threatening to pull the plug on the Gears of War movie. New Line Cinema seems reluctant to move forward with the project, as adaptations of even immensely popular videogames aren't guaranteed success at the box office.
If this rumor is true, Gears may well end up in the same cinematic no-man's land as Halo. Meanwhile, Resident Evil: Extinction continues to do well, earning another $4 million this past weekend.
