Sharp's Aquos line refreshed itself today, offering 22-inch 1080p LCD TVs for the first time to Japanese consumers.
This is another way of saying that Sharp is the first TV maker to glue an appropriately high-end tuner and signal processor to the current generation of computer monitors, which have offered such resolutions at such panel sizes for years.
Now, that's not to be mean: the unit has a strange and daring look to it, with odd 1980s retro licks and a monster soundbar slung under its chin. And while there's no indication of what holes adorn that all-important I/O panel, the shroud of progressive technological gumption around it suggests we'll have all flavors accounted for.
A U.S. release date? Not yet, chaps. But when it does, it will probably be painted dark gray.
