Vintage "Modern Vintage" Modern

*I don't like to get on my linguistic high horse and fuss at a good old-fashioned futuristic company like "Fossil," but how can ANYTHING be "modern vintage"? Okay, there was "modernism" – and you could have a revival of "modernism," except that certainly wouldn't be "vintage" in the sense of the actual original "modern", that would be "revived modern." But this "modern vintage"
stuff isn't even identical to the original modern – it's '00s
"modern vintage." Imagine trying to collect these watches and handbags and stuff in the 2030s (because this was what you aspired to have when you were a kid).

"I collect modern-vintage. No, not "modern."
And certainly not "vintage." No, I mean good old fashioned turn of the century modern-vintage. The real deal. You know. Authentics only, with the pedigree. Mint in the box."

What have we done to ourselves?
