EBay U.K. is already loaded with auctions placed by people who don't even own what they're trying to sell: iPhones.
Naturally, the prices are inflated beyond sane bounds, with starting prices over $1,200. The real deal, to be found at Apple stores, Carphone Warehouse and carrier O2's retail plots, will be $550 including local sales tax—already a somewhat brutal hit on those spendy European consumers.
EBay's already taken action, banning three-day and one-day auctions for iPhones, Buy-It-Now auctions for iPhones, and auctions of unlocked British iPhones, which don't even exist given that they'll come out the can with new firmware that won't be unlockable.
