Two months after the unveiling of the Sidekick Slide, heavy complaints from users about a glitch that turned off the player when the screen slid to open and close (a big reason for the Sidekick's popularity with teens) led to the suspension of the player's sales last week. In a credit to the company, T-Mobile immediately issued a statement that stated its desire to correct the mistake and make it up to users:
Following that statement, T-Mobile users have now been allowed to change their Slide for a new Sidekick LX for free, (the LX is the other Sidekick that debuted in September 2007). If they decide to not receive a new LX, they can also exchange it for another set of their choice.
According to T-Mobile, the reason for the glitch is due to 'a minor issue relating to the battery contacts,' and they are expecting to have a solution ready for next week. If you're one of the mad Sidekick fans, you can wait out the solution by zoning out to the super fast texting seen in the video below.
