One of the biggest complaints about the iPhone is the lack of a 3G radio. Apple chose to go with EDGE instead, both to help battery life and because EDGE connectivity is available in many more places. But is EDGE really that bad? German site iPhone Infoblog decided to find out. The video below shows an iPhone going head to head with a Nokia E61i on a UMTS network.
The results? Almost exactly the same. The iPhone is a few seconds slower on the tested sites – Die Zeit, eBay and Applephoneinfo – but there ‘s no real difference between the two. And guess which one looks better when the page has loaded? EDGE gegen UMTS [iPhone Infoblog via Daring Fireball]
