This week's Famitsu reports that Sega will be releasing Phantasy Star Portable for PSP, which will for all intents and purposes be a port of the single-player campaign Phantasy Star Universe and its expansion, Ambition of the Illuminus.

While portable PSU is a fantastic idea, the story mode was easily the least enjoyable aspect of the game, making this announcement rather bittersweet. Four-player co-op via ad hoc will be available, but at the moment no other multiplayer is planned.

Phantasy Star Portable will include new original content and is slated for release some time next year in Japan.
