Perpetual Entertainment have just released the first screenshot from their upcoming MMO Star Trek Online.

What you see above is only a slice of the actual screenshot. Click here for a larger, more content-packed version.

The devlog update that brings us this picture also brings interesting news on the game's interaction system. It seems the developers main goal for the title is keeping the all-important interaction mechanics as simple as possible. They claim all interaction in the title can be accomplished by "a single right-click of the mouse on a neutral or friendly NPC."

Good news, no doubt, for those who have always wanted to dive into a pile of Tribbles without having to to grow extra digits to facilitate the action.

This latest action is further proof that Perpetual badly needs Star Trek Online
to be a hit. Some -- including members of the development team who have supposedly quit over the new casual direction -- see this as a betrayal of the famously in-depth Star Trek universe, but more realistically it's an indication that Perpetual is hedging their bets on this one in order to maximize the player base.

After all, they canceled Gods And Heroes to focus exclusively on this title, so if it doesn't make money, they're in trouble.
