Recently, Sony allowed PSP game developers to access the full power of the portable console’s 333 MHz processor. One of the games that will take advantage of that is next year’s God of War: Chains of Olympus.
In this video from the 1up show, developers Ready At Dawn take us through an older, 222 MHz version of the game and the latest build, showing all the elements they were able to add in: Blood splatters, explosions, and innocent civilians for you to kill.
Ultimately, Sony probably made the right decision at the beginning of PSP’s lifespan, as battery life was a big concern and more processing power eats more battery. But now, with PSP being eviscerated by the DS, they need to do whatever they can to make it appealing. Letting a high-profile game like God of War look even better is an excellent step, even if it means it’s going to suck the life out of your PSP battery.
