Let's face it: Snow goggles are some of the least stylish pieces of winter gear on earth. Their purpose is to protect your fragile eyeballs from wind and sun, but they also consistently make you look like a giant bug.
The I/O goggles, part of Smith's spherical line, are an admirable attempt to transcend the giant praying mantis look of most snow goggles - not by making you look like less of a bug, but one of the coolest bugs on earth.
Switching to the high-light lens was trickier than it appeared on the clear instruction panel. Fitting the spherical lens into all the little rubber notches required more manual dexterity than my numbed digits were capable of at 2:00 in the afternoon. But that's a small price to pay: With goggles this cool, you can easily dazzle someone into doing it for you.
