The Wired.com Photo Department has just found out that a great photography site with a unique vision, TheOnesWeLove.org, is in limbo due to bandwidth bills. (Thank you to our friends at A Photo a Day for turning us onto the site.)
Acording to the site: The goal of the website is to portray the people who are loved, cherished, and inspirational to these artists, and also showcase the differences and similarities in the photographs each of them took within the same guidelines.
We checked it out yesterday and wanted to point you at it, but by the time we got around to taking a second look today the photographs disappeared. It turns out that TheOnesWeLove.org has become so popular, the brainchild behind the project Lindley Warren (above) has accrued excessive traffic bills. So we at Wired.com are officially launching the “Bring Back TheOnesWeLove.org” campaign.
“The project started actually as a final project for my Foundations 2D class,” said Warren. “I think a mixture of wanting to be in touch with people, being away from my boyfriend, and a desire to do something worthwhile had quite a bit to do with the idea of the project.”
Lindley is not asking for much, a little bandwidth, a buck or two, a little something to keep the project alive.
“I get no payment for the site,” said Warren. “And in reality I have very little money, experience, etc, so that’s why it’s probably a surprise for people to see the site is down because of a lack of funds. I get the impression a lot of people think a group of people are behind this project, not one 19 year-old girl living in Iowa.”
