The Ontario government will provide a half-million dollar grant to game developer Silicon Knights to go towards the development of "a third-person action/psychological thriller," the Ontario Media Development Corporation announced today.
The game, slated to be released in 2010, is slated to ship on "all next-generation systems."
Hmm, a third-person psychological thriller? Sounds suspiciously like a Silicon Knights game I played once. Could it be true?
Silicon Knights is one of the winners of the OMDC Video Game Prototype Initiative, for which Ontario-based game makers were asked to submit proposals late last year.
The other winner is Digital Extremes, who will use the $500,000 to fund
"a third-person action game with an old-school horror theme" for 360,
PS3, and PC.
Last year, Dyack said that game development subsidies from the neighboring province of Quebec were "insane," and causing a
"brain-drain" from Ontario.
In a statement today, Dyack said that "this grant will encourage this great talent to stay within
Ontario."
