In a switch-around welcome to those outside the US, the BBC will be offering TV shows for download at the UK iTunes Store. These shows will, as yet, not be available in the US, a reversal of the usual US-centric product rollouts from Apple.
Priced at £1.89 ($3.69 – or as Reuters charmingly says, 1.89 pounds), the episodes are available today. Series' include Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood; Robin Hood; and the splendid retro cop-show Life On Mars.
The BBC are open about the move. Simon Danker, BBC Director of Digital Media, says it's all about the iPod:
