Behind the Scenes at a Rock 'n' Roll Poster Studio

Firehouse Kustom Rockart's concert posters are produced using a psychedelic mix of high-tech and old-school screen printing. Catch their work at the Flatstock 16 poster show during South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

Graphic artist Jon-Paul Bail wields an X-Acto knife to cut a stencil from Rubylith gelatin -- a decades-old technique. Each layer can take as many as 10 hours to complete, but the Firehouse team prefers it to using stencils because of the greater control. "We're all vandals at heart," said Bail.
