Well, this is unexpected: Recently-formed publisher of movie licensed games Brash Entertainment has announced that they have partnered up with Game Republic, the Japan game studio founded by Street Fighter II producer Yoshiki Okamoto.
The unlikely bedfellows will team to produce a game based on an unannounced "popular" Hollywood film, set for release in 2010.
Game Republic's works include Genji and Folklore.
Brash's catalog includes Jumper and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
That's what I mean about strange bedfellows. After Alvin, it seemed like we could safely write off Brash as another purveyor of licensed trash, but partnering with Game Republic means they might actually ship a good game. In two years.
While Brash hasn't yet announced the film, this is what Okamoto had to say on the subject:
Any guesses as to what it might be?
