Gerry Kelly, a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly and the Sinn Féin's Ard Chomhairle, recently came out in support of the controversial report Dr. Tanya Byron presented to officials in the UK.

"We need to ensure that children and young people are safe on the internet," Kelly said. "I welcome Dr Byron's review and look forward to looking at the detail.
Keeping children and young people safe is a priority and responsibility for us all."

This is the same Gerry Kelly who in 1973 was arrested in connection with four car bombs set by the Irish Republican Army in London. Officials report that Kelly then attempted escape from prison three times, including a final successful attempt in which he shot and injured a guard.

It would be myopic to condemn a man's future actions based on things he did at the age of 19, but one can't help notice the irony in Kelly's support of a report that seeks to restrict the sale of violent games, lest they cause real world violence.
