An estimated 10,000 people gathered Sunday at the University of Colorado to celebrate the "high holy day for potheads" with a massive smoke-out.
The plan, as in years past, was to light up at 4:20 p.m. on 4/20 — and to make a statement about marijuana laws in the process. Unlike in past years, police said there would be no internet-based attempt to bust pot smokers in 2008. No citations were made Sunday, according to The Daily Camera.
"We’re at the starting point of a movement," said freshman Emily Benson, 19, who said she thinks decriminalization of pot will be on the political agenda this election cycle. "This is a big part of the reason I applied here — for the weed atmosphere."
Amazingly, a few people have already gotten motivated enough to post video clips of the event on YouTube. See the countdown to 4:20 in the embedded clip — you can almost smell the smoke.
