Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos was among friends Saturday at Startup School 08, the hacker confab organized by Y Combinator and the Business Association of Student Entepreneurial Students (BASES).
But that wasn't enough for him to take the bait when the last questioner in an hour-long session asked what he thought about Amazon AWS competitor Google App Engine.
Bezos cited a long policy of not commenting on competitors, then allowed:
"This is not going to be a winner-take-all space," he said. "It is rare for significant industries to be built by a single company."
