Watching other gamers play games is not for everyone, but there’s certainly an audience for it, and the Championship Gaming Series (CGS) is hoping that a new TV deal will help expand their reach.
The LA-based CGS — describing itself as "the only worldwide professional video gaming league" — has entered in a partnership with G4 Media to broadcast four 90-minute episodes covering competitions to be held this summer.
This isn’t the first TV deal for the league, following a few partnerships that saw extensive coverage of last year’s championship events in other global markets.
The complete airing schedule on G4 is as follows:
July 16: 2008 North America Final
July 19: 2008 World Final quarterfinals
July 26: 2008 World Final semifinals
August 2: 2008 World Final championship match
You can also catch CGS activities and events through a dedicated YouTube channel. The embedded video features a look at how team scoring works — the league is composed of 18 teams grouping top gamers from around the world.
