A new trailer for Resident Evil 5 reveals the game’s partner character, an African local.
The game ignited a bit of controversy when its setting was first announced: Even if the populace has been turned into zombies, it’s still going to raise eyebrows if you’ve got a white guy chainsawing his way through a whole bunch of dark-skinned enemy characters. So it adds an interesting twist to the story to see that hero Chris Redfield’s new partner is a local, although she only makes a brief appearance at the end of the trailer.
As for the trailer, it featured plenty of frantic zombies either roaming the streets, or getting chopped, shot, and cut down. The weekend also saw the launch of the game’s official site, which includes new galleries, wallpapers, and PC/Mac buddy icons.
If you like kanji characters in your trailers — and are more partial to the series’ Biohazard appellation — a Japanese version of the trailer was also released.
