Return of Match Game Looks to Tickle Your 'Blank'

"Dumb Dora is so dumb…"

On the heels of Adam Sandler’s decision to bring The Gong Show back to TV, TBS is reviving Match Game with hipster comedians including Sarah Silverman and Norm MacDonald, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Match Game was a 1970s icon with its ugly set, flamboyant fashions, mid-level stars and Benny Hill-level double entendre questions (take a trip down memory lane with the embedded clip of the original).

The eccentric Charles Nelson Reilly, game show poet laureate Nipsey Russell and actress/singer Brett Somers were fixtures on the show. Gene Rayburn hosted — armed with that bizarre stick-and-ball microphone.

The updated effort will be produced by Robert Smigel (of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog fame) and hosted by Andrew Daly. Show participants looking for 21st-century ways to say bippy will include Sarah Silverman, Norm MacDonald, Super Dave Osborne (Bob Einstein), Scott Thompson, Rashida Jones and Niecy Nash.
