Celebs Schmooze Fans at Comic-Con

Wolfman250Dozens of Hollywood A-listers hopped on the freeway and trekked down to San Diego over the weekend to schmooze with 125,000 Comic-Con International fans.

Keanu Reeves (The Day the Earth Stood Still), Mark Wahlberg (Max Payne),  Samuel L. Jackson (The Spirit), Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse), Hugh Jackman (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Billy Crudup (Watchmen) and  Benicio Del Toro (pictured, as The Wolfman) were among the stars who showed up to meet, greet and hype upcoming projects, but the directors did most of the talking.

Here’s a sampling of what the Talent had to say:

  • Rose McGowan, talking about the brief barbarian bikini she’ll be wearing when she [Red Sonja, to be directed by her boyfriend, Robert Rodriguez.  "The suffragettes would have loved her," she said. "She would only be with a man if he had bested her with the sword first. That was a pretty feminist statement … well, as far as comic books go back then." via ml">Los Angeles T/ /- <li>Director McG described the loo<n/">Terminator Salva/em>, treated with silver, processing black & white film as having "Soviet tank style" and said he wanted to honor the pedigree. "Prior to making the picture, I made sure I talked to Jim Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Stan Winston."  Calling up  three fans to join him and the cast on stage, McG said the movie will be dedicated to the memory of Winston, who created the original T-800 Terminator robot.  [=1">Var/ /- <li>Kevin Smith, joining Judd Apatow, Zack Snyder and Frank Miller for ml">EW Visiona</a> panel,  called <em>Watc/em> trailer a "religious" experience.  "The whole reason we ever had a Comic-Con was that someone would make a Watchmen movie," he said. "I feel like after I see that I can die!" [sp">FishbowlLA< /- <li>Snyder, expanding<em>Watc/em>, said: "The comic book is the film’s bible." Alan Moore, who wrote the original series but wants nothing to do with the movie, evidently let down by Hollywood’s adapations of <em>V for Vend/em> <em>The League of Extraordinary Gentle/<em>Watc/em> credits will likely read "based on a comic illustrated by Dave Gibbons," Snyder said. "I wish Alan could experience the same joy and excitement [as we have] about the film."
