Apple has set a date for the switch from .Mac to the new Mobile Me service, and it comes just in time for the launch of the iPhone 3G. Mobile Me will go live tomorrow, July 9th, meaning that it will be ready for the early-bird launch of the iPhone in New Zealand. The Kiwis will be able to buy an iPhone at 12.01AM on Friday 11th, which translates to 5.01AM on Thursday 10th in Wired's hometown of San Francisco. From the .Mac status page:

MobileMe Launch 7/9/2008, 6pm-12am PT

As part of the MobileMe launch, www.mac.com will be taken offline at 6pm PT on Wednesday, July 9th.

Members will be unable to access www.mac.com or any .Mac services during this time with the exception of .Mac Mail accessed via a desktop application, iPhone, or iPod touch.

MobileMe will be available as soon as possible during this maintenance window.

We wonder if the App Store, too, will be online early in New Zealand, or if new owners will have a frustrating wait for an international rollout.
