The lineup for Comic-Con International is officially posted. If you look it over, you'll see plenty of events and panels built around comics, comic-based movies, science fiction, horror, megafranchises like* Star Wars* and genre-friendly phenomena like Mystery Science Theater 3000.
But, you won't find much on the reboot of the Star Trek franchise. There's a passing mention when the schedule touches on J.J. Abrams' sci-fi TV series, Fringe. And there are plenty of Trek-related guests attending -- but they're all guests from Trek's past.
C'mon, folks. Between now and the next Comic-Con, one of the biggest TV and movie franchises in history will be relaunched from scratch by one of the current high-concept giants (Abrams). There's been little more than a couple leaked back-lot production photos revealed so far.
Principle photography is in the can, and no one outside Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot has seen what the film will look like, how the actors pull it off, etc. Next week's convention in San Diego would seem to be the perfect time for teaser footage.
But there's nothing. Could Abrams, the master of viral marketing, sneak some kind of a Star Trek reveal into Comic-Con?
More to come as the investigation continues.
