Abrams, Orsi Writing Prequel Comic for Star Trek

Just as he did for his upcoming Fox series, Fringe, J.J. Abrams (with writer Robert Orci) is preparing a prequel comic to lead into his upcoming reboot of the Star Trek movie franchise.

Working with Trek comics publisher IDW, Abrams and Orsi will build the new universe of Federation heroes and Romulan enemies before *Star Trek *arrives in 2009.

IDW is the most recent publisher to beam Kirk and company into its books, with companies ranging from Gold Key to Power Records to both Marvel and DC Comics publishing Star Fleet adventures in the past.
