The achievement system coming to World of Warcraft is old news, but it looks like Blizzard is planning that same meta-game addictiveness for Diablo III and StarCraft II.
The system is "basically a gamerscore," lead designer Jeff Kaplan told MTV, referencing the point system found in Microsoft's Xbox 360 console.
Further echoing the similarity, Blizzard also plans to consolidate each game's meta-score into a single, overarching "Blizzard Account" – no doubt subtly urging players to buy more Blizzard games in the never-ending quest for arbitrary points.
The new system begs the question: At what point does Blizzard's layers upon layers of dopamine-stimulating game elements actually become dangerously physically addictive?
