Though Blizzard's legal team already won their case against the creators of Glider on copyright grounds, another battle lies ahead: Preventing the Glider developers from releasing the program as open source data, freely available to anyone on the 'net.
For those drawing a blank on what Glider actually is, the program's official site characterizes it as "a tool that plays your World of Warcraft character for you."
Blizzard is seeking a permanent injunction (.pdf) against Glider creator MDY Industries "barring MDY from selling, supporting, marketing or distributing the MMO Glider Software package" – this would include distributing the software as an open source project.
If Blizzard is victorious here it would functionally shut down all of MDY's Glider-related business as it pertains to World of Warcraft. A cursory Google search shows Glider as the company's only notable product, so for their sake I hope they pinned at least a few of their hopes on something that didn't so blatantly violate a gigantic company's intellectual property.
