Marking a change of pace from the flurry of comic-to-movie deals dominated by testosterone-fueled stories of All-American manly men, Paramount Pictures and Brad Pitt's Plan B have acquired Miki Falls.
The four-volume manga series by Mark Crilley follows the romantic angst of high school senior Miki Yoshida, who becomes fascinated with a mysterious new classmate named Hiro Sakurai.
Sera Gamble, a TV producer on CW Network's Supernatural, will write the screenplay adaptation, according to Variety.
Crilley, who previously explored young adult relationships in his *Akiko *series, produced four installments of Miki Falls. They were published, one season at a time, by Harper Teen starting in spring 2007.
In September, the ABC Family network is trotting out a feisty heroine of its own with the six-hour Samurai Girlminiseries.
