Widely-lauded strategy title Sins of a Solar Empire will see expansion packs, though the additions announced by publisher Stardock Software this morning are a bit unorthodox.
Instead of offering the standard, boxed expansion model, Stardock is promoting micro-expansions available via download from the company's digital distribution platform Impulse. The first micro-expansion, dubbed Entrenchment, will be available from Impulse for $10 later this year.
Entrenchment's gameplay additions include "a Starbase defense platform for each race, turret upgrades for each race to make them more powerful and a
Subspace Inhibitor platform that will slow enemy ships within its range."
Sins developer Ironclad is also working on two additional add-ons,"one of which adds new diplomacy features to the game and another that will add new technologies and ships," though no release details yet exist for these expansions.
