British Police to Get Superhero-Style Weapons

According to every Britons' favorite faux-newspaper, the Daily Mail, British Police may soon be kitted out with high tech "less lethal" weaponry to join their distinctly US-style "batons, Taser electric stun guns and CS spray". Reading the list, though, reminds us more of the kind of gadgets a superhero might use: Here they are, along with their comic-book equivalents:

Malodorant (stink-bombs) - The Spleen, Mystery Men

Immobiliser Glue (pictured) – Riot Foam, Judge Dredd

Sticky Nets - Spiderman

Lasers - Superman (eyes)

The cops on the street take a rather refreshingly honest view:

"I'd feel more like Batman than a police officer"

"Where on earth do they get their ideas from? Have they not got enough less-lethal options already? "

And my favorite:

"It sounds like they have just gone down to the joke shop to get their ideas. What about sneezing powder or itching powder?"
