NBA 2K9* creator 2KSports has finally revealed its answer to NBA Live '09's dynamically updated player stats: A near-doppelganger of Electronic Arts' system dubbed "Living Rosters."
"When the Living Rosters feature is activated and a gamer signs in online, the game automatically checks for Living Roster updates in order to download the latest real-life player information in a seamless process behind the scenes," the official description states.
Like EA's system, the game will automatically use this data to alter player attributes and tendencies within the game.
With "Living Rosters" and EA's "Dynamic DNA" being the most important additions to a sports game in years, the (critical) success of each basketball title will almost certainly come down to the quality of their dynamic roster system. Honestly I don't care who wins, I just hope either company implements a system as useful as the one I'm envisioning based on what we've been promised.
