On September 21 and 22, more than 120 students at Parsons' The New School for Design will band into teams of five, and spend 24 hours playing LittleBigPlanet.
They'll be competing against one another, crafting one level per team that will ultimately be judged by Media Molecule (the game's developers), Parsons faculty, and members of the media. The winners, who are deemed to have created the best level in that 24-hour period, will have their level showcased in a special Parsons section of the game.
With so much of the game centered around an individual user's creativity, it'd be interesting to see how their trained-artist sensibilities match up to the power of the internet at large. Unfortunately, it's a little late to enroll into art school and sign up for the competition, so we'll just have to wait a few more weeks until we mere gaming mortals can show them how it's done.
