Monolith Productions has reacquired the rights to the F.E.A.R. name and Project Origin will henceforth be known as F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.
As part of the recent Activision/Blizzard merger, the newly minted mega-publisher came into possession of the rights to the name which were previously held by Sierra Entertainment.
In the rush to sell off Sierra properties, Activision/Blizzard has agreed to sell the name back to Monolith, according to a post on the official Project Origin website.
Adding the F.E.A.R. moniker to the sequel certainly will stave off some consumer confusion, but I wonder how much cash Monolith had to shell out to use the name.
