Another software tip for our camera-toting readers. Both Apple and Adobe have released updates for their pro photo editing and organizing software. Aperture hits version 2.1.2, and Lightroom 2.1 update goes official after a brief beta period.
What do you get? Well, Aperture "improves the printing quality of books ordered through the Aperture printing service", and that's it. The Lightroom update is a lot more useful, especially if you have just bought a new camera. The update adds support for 15 new cameras, including Canon's EOS 50D and 1000D, Nikon's D700 and D90, the Sigma DP1 (at last!) and a whole bunch of Leaf backs.
While undoubtedly useful, it still seems a little ridiculous that the software has to be updated for every new camera that goes on sale. Imagine if every new album released required an iTunes update for compatibility. C'mon, camera makers -- get with the DNG already.
