*It's finally happened. A "green" event that's so chi-chi, refined, modiste,
New Economy and top-end that I literally can't scan what they're talking about. I always knew this would happen, but I didn't know it would use quite these words.
*You know, Haute Green is not just for the rich guys any more.
It's also, and especially, for the poor guys who used to be rich guys six months ago.
DESIGNERS & AGENTS LAUNCHES

Designers and Agents® is pleased to announce the launch of D&A GREEN MARKET, the first ever sustainable trade event encompassing the world of fashion, lifestyle, design and community. As with all other D & A shows, this will be a juried show with the focus being on sustainability while maintaining the highest standard of design integrity. GREEN MARKET is launching during the Los Angeles Spring market (October 17-19) side by side with D&A. Alabama Denim, Edun, Stewart & Brown, CAMPER, Loomstate and Namaste Green House leaders in sustainable design are just a few of the fashion brands showing at this exciting new venue. In addition to expanding fashion and lifestyle brands we will invite wellness and beauty, art, ecologically minded businesses, community based organizations and a selection of sustainable business models that we believe our audience of taste makers and influencers will find of interest.
Designers and Agents' ultimate goal for the GREEN MARKET, both Kramer and Mandelbaum note, is to expand the capsule into its own, stand-alone trade event running concurrently with the Designers & Agents Spring and Fall Markets. In order to promote as much synergy as possible between Designers and Agents and D&A GREEN MARKET, Ed Mandelbaum and Kramer remain committed to the Green programming that recurs annually at its May and June shows in New York and Los Angeles, which nurtures young eco-conscious brands by offering them gifted space in the eco-capsule, Green Room.
D&A is currently working with industry experts to come up with checks and balances on how to determine sustainability criteria. At this point applying brands will need to demonstrate that a minimum of 60% of their product line is achieved through sustainable practices.
"We believe that 'green' is not a trend but rather a way of life," notes Designers and Agents co-founder Barbara Kramer. "And our green programming has already moved a lot of our vendors and retailers to get on board. This is our way of challenging everyone we work with to do better, because they can. In order to shrink fashion's carbon footprint," Kramer notes, "you've got to give green design a bigger business presence. That positive footprint," she adds, "needs to be nurtured in order to grow. It has become apparent to us that we have created a platform for these emerging sustainable brands to meet the world of commerce in a supportive and expanding environment which is conducive to doing business and creating partnerships".
"The aim is to get the best in sustainable design under one roof," explains Designers and Agents co-founder Ed Mandelbaum. "That's a service to our retailers, and it's a service to the vendors too, because not only is there branding strength in numbers, but they can all learn from each other, as well. We stepped into the Green arena because it is something we personally believe in", says Mandelbaum, but in order for green to have any longevity, it has to work as a business. The GREEN MARKET is our way of showing the world that you really can do well by doing good."
A cocktail party will be held onsite October 18th 6:00 pm - 8:30 co-hosted by Ford Brady, celebrating the launch of GREEN MARKET and introduces CocoEco an online sustainable fashion magazine.
