The writer-producers of time-traveling sci-fi series Heroes got fired Sunday as the once-hot show fails to regain momentum seven weeks into its third season.
Show runners Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb will no longer be handling day-to-day producing duties for the superhero drama, according to Variety. Series creator Tim Kring remains on board as executive producer.
Variety reports a couple of reasons for the shake-up: budget and storytelling. *Heroes * is reportedly budgeted at $4 million per episode but the visual effects-heavy series has been over-spending as ratings decline. Beyond that, NBC is displeased with the show's creative direction, according to unnamed sources.
On that front, the Peacock brass have a lot in common with one-time fans, who recently offered a barrage of complaints critiquing the show's third season
Frustrated viewers have been turned off by an over-reliance on time travel, hokey dialogue, weak acting and too many flip-flopping characters.
Commenters, here's your chance to weigh in with advice for the new guys in charge: What can be done to save Heroes?
