Linz is 2009 European Capital of Culture. And a major highlight comes right at the start of the big year: the opening of the spectacular new Ars Electronica Center on January 2, 2009. (((Way to go, Osterreich.)))

This facility features one-of-a-kind infrastructure for a hands-on, creative encounter with those cutting-edge fields that are now delivering the most significant-and, at the same time, most controversial-impetus to innovation: the life sciences.
