Despite its plans to release an early demo for Killzone 2 exclusively for gamers who pre-order the title from GameStop, Sony is also issuing a demo for the rest of us prior to the game's release, reports MTV's Multiplayer Blog.
Pre-order holders will still be able to acquire their demo on February 2, but the PlayStation Network will also see a non-exclusive demo of the title on February 26, one day before the game hits store shelves.
Why has Sony opted to restrict the number of PlayStation 3 owners who could possibly be swayed into purchasing the game via demo?
"Offering a playable demo to motivate preorders speaks to our confidence in the appeal of a game such as Killzone 2," says Sony's vice president of product marketing Scott Steinberg. "We take this approach when we are convinced that the experience will cement a consumer’s interest in purchasing."
