*When even the calm, scholarly eco-geeks get into Rush-bashing, you know it's the New Normal in American political discourse.
*Looks like Rahm really gets it about Rove. This polarizing, raw-meat, intensify-the-contradictions thing, that's the Rove handbook. The one great novelty in the culture-war here is that Limbaugh is gonna collaborate with this campaign with every heartbeat he's got; since Rahm launched his "puppet-of-Limbaugh" campaign, Limbaugh's listeners have doubled.
The Limbaugh tar-baby is now twice the size it was and twice as hard for Republicans to disown.
*If he's fed enough ego-candy, there's a pretty good chance Limbaugh is gonna freak out. He's never been a major player, he's a jumped-up dope-addict blowhard; the Right can't get next to him and they can't get away from him. All they can do is complain that Obama is beating them with their own firebrand.
*A great opportunity for meddling by foreign powers here. Like,
Putin could give Limbaugh some kind of medal for scolding Moslems.
Anybody who wants to hammer the sore thumb can have at it.
