"In multimedia computing and management, ambient/ubiquitous/pervasive media integration is attracting a lot of attention. (((Just integrating "ambiency, ubiquity and pervasion" in one conference is enough to make your head explode.))) In particular, we are seeing large quantities of media data generated from various sources and presented to users. New emerging applications, such as digital entertainment, gaming, and e-learning, often require multimedia data objects that can be of different modality yet semantically relevant to be integrated in order to meet various requirements and achieve user objectives. ((("Uh, I used to blog back in the 90s, but nowadays I'm a 'multimedia semantic modalist.'" I wonder if I know any of these guys already. Maybe Wagner James Au, that in-house Second Life evangelist who writes books about Second Life apps inside Second Life?)))
"While human brains can "integrate" media data objects naturally by fusing and associating them quickly, (((ow, ow, that hurts, help me Prof Jenkins))) existing multimedia computing and processing techniques, unfortunately, do not provide adequate support to facilitate ambient media data integration automatically and semi-automatically. This workshop aims at addressing the various issues and challenges in ambient media data integration. The topics of interests include, but are not limited to, the following:
a.. Discovery of media data semantics
b.. Media data mining
c.. Multi-modal data search and query processing
d.. Cross-media indexing and association
e.. Media object identification and (semantic) equivalence
f.. Context-aware media data delivery and presentation
g.. Location-based multimedia services
h.. Wearable and wireless media computing
i.. Cross-network server and management systems
j.. Media synchronization
k.. Pervasive multimedia applications...
