When nominees for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Thursday, Battlestar Galactica and True Blood got snubbed but Lost (pictured, right) picked up a Best Drama nod while Seth MacFarlane's naughty Fox cartoon Family Guy snagged its first Best Comedy kudo.
CBS sit-com Big Bang Theory also received some first-time Emmy love from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences when star Jim Parsons, who plays a nerdy physicist, picked up a nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy.
In the Best Variety Series category, *The Colbert Report *takes on four-year-in-a-row winner *The Daily Show, *Late Show With David Letterman, Real Time With Bill Maher and Saturday Night Live
Nominated for Best Drama Series: Big Love, * Breaking Bad*, Damages, Dexter, House, Lost and last year's winner Mad Men.
Nominated for Best Comedy Series: *Entourage, Family Guy, How I Met Your Mother, Flight of the Conchords, The Office, Weeds *and 2008 winner 30 Rock which earned a whopping 22 nominations in all.
