God of War III is sure to make a splash on PlayStation 3 next year, but what if you're a newcomer to the Sony fold and haven't played the PlayStation 2 originals?

Well, then just buy them used at GameStop. Wait, I mean unless your PS3 doesn't have backward compatibility, in which case Sony has the answer: God of War Collection, compilation of the critically acclaimed 2005 original and its 2007 sequel to be released this fall for $40.

Even if you've already got the first two games, there are some improvements to this PS3 port: upscaled, anti-aliased 60 FPS graphics and Trophy support.

You may recall a survey that Sony undertook in April, asking players what they'd like to see as a bonus item packed in with God of War III, and this was one of the choices. Wonder what happened between now and then, that this was shifted from bonus item to retail game?
