Augmented Reality: an actual AR business announcement

*I'm not gonna run every one of these I get, but I still get all touched when I see today's AR pioneers talking in public like actual business people with a real industry. Here's some French guys who are signing a formal team-up to run some AR on Windows Mobile.

*Yes, I know – but come on, somebody has got to run something on Windows Mobile! It's Windows, they're a business, they have money. Come on.

"Total Immersion, the world leader in augmented reality, (((I wonder what PR guy decided to claim that title))) today announced that it has signed an exclusive distribution partnership with int13 , a French software firm that specializes in next-gen smartphone applications.

"Total Immersion and int13 will integrate their respective technologies to market embedded augmented reality applications through Total Immersions DFusion Mobile platform. Compatible with the majority of next-generation mobile phones, the initial application will operate seamlessly on Symbian and Windows Mobile devices, with iPhone and Android support following thereafter. The application will be released early in Q4.

"Total Immersions patented DFusion augmented reality technology integrates real time interactive 3-D graphics into a live video stream. The partnership between Total Immersion and int13 expands the DFusion platform to mobile devices. DFusion Mobile complements Total Immersions DFusion Professional, DFusion@Home and DFusion Web browser implementations. (((Sounds pretty good, huh?)))

"At int13, we recognize the value of augmented reality as an engaging new way to interact with consumers," said Stéphane Cocquereaumont, Managing Director of int13. (((Augmented Reality people have some of the awesomest names in the world. You never see, like, "Fred Jones" or "Jose' Gonzales," it's always people like Raimo, Tish, Usman, and M. Cocquereaumont here.)))

"Our aim is to develop games and augmented reality applications that make the most of what smartphones have to offer. With this distribution partnership, we look to benefit from Total Immersion`s premier market position as the company brings our combined technology to a global audience."

"This is a win-win for both companies, and for consumers," said Bruno Uzzan, (((http://gamesalfresco.com/2009/09/15/why-int13-got-in-bed-with-total-immersion/
