You know things have gone very wrong when an army of gas-masked individuals show up to deal with the biohazard that’s turning your neighbors into killers. That’s the scenario at the horrifying heart of The Crazies, the upcoming remake of George A. Romero’s 1973 movie about the military containment of a small town after a biological weapon accident.
Thankfully, things aren’t that bad for you. Instead of fearing thy neighbor, you could be hearing thy neighbor on a new Nokia E72 mobile phone.
In conjunction with Overture Films and its release of The Crazies in theaters Feb. 26, Wired.com is giving away an unlocked Nokia E72 mobile phone to one lucky winner. (Service is not included.)
To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment below. A winner will be picked at random. Comments must be entered by 12:01 a.m. PST Feb. 20.
Directed by Breck Eisner, The Crazies stars Timothy Olyphant ( Deadwood) as a small-town sheriff battling his town’s infected populace alongside his doctor wife, played by Radha Mitchell ( Surrogates).
More Crazies Craziness
With The Crazies approaching faster than a lunatic with a pitchfork, the movie’s hype machine has gone … crazy. Fresh attractions include a four-issue Crazies comic book series (see covers below), out this month, a free Crazies tower-defense game on Facebook and an iPhone app called Beware the Infected (link opens iTunes), both available now. A Crazies motion comic (trailer embedded right) comes out Feb. 23.
Do you think anyone can do justice to Romero’s low-budget ’70s nightmare flick? Scroll past the new Crazies trailer to post your potentially winning comment below.
