BMW made a big deal of the Mini E electric car making a lap of the famed Nürburgring-Nordschleife, and now we've got more video of the car's lap.
It isn't much – a one-minute segment from inside the car, one minute from a chase vehicle and another minute from the air. But it's still worth checking out, if only because it's so damn weird hearing a car run the 'Ring silently. The Mini E Race lapped the Nürburgring earlier this month in 9 minutes, 51.45 seconds and hit 116.19 mph. That kind of time is positively geologic compared to, say, the Ferrari 599XX that did it in 6:58.16, but it's within striking distance of cars like the BMW 318d.
The BMW Mini-E Race shares the same 150-kilowatt (204-horsepower) electric motor and 35-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery as the Mini E we drove last year. The suspension and bodywork was modified and BMW pared 400 pounds from the car. You can get more tech info here.
