PICNIC Mini Salon Dortmund
We're taking PICNIC across the border for the PICNIC Mini-Salon Dortmund! This Mini-Salon takes place on 25 August at the E-Culture Fair, an experiential combination of exhibitions, demos, live presentations, workshops, and an open art lab in Dortmund, Germany. PICNIC Mini Salon Dortmund is an interactive afternoon workshop that will explore one concrete question related to the PICNIC '10 theme Redesign the World: If you were to improve the quality of your own or other peoples’ lives what project would you want to launch, what activity would you want to develop or what idea would you want to pursue? New Aging Conference
We're excited to introduce the New Aging Conference, a new initiative organized by PICNIC advisor Matthias Hollwich together with the University of Pennsylvania School of Design and Architizer. This event combines architecture, city planning, culture and urbanism to provide pragmatic and visionary insights for the challenges of our aging population. Guests from inside and and outside the design profession will contribute to a manifesto on "New Aging" in architecture. This unique new conference is complemented by hands-on workshops, matchmaking sessions, and open houses at collaborating institutions. The New Aging Conference takes place from 1 to 2 October 2010 at the University of Pennsylvania.
(Un)limited Design Contest
This year's (Un)limited Design Contest was launched at DMY 2010 in Berlin. Now in its second year, the contest is is an experiment in open design. Participants can submit original designs or copy and adapt other participants’ entries to the contest. The themes for this year's competetion include Form, Food, Fashion and Fusion. Go to the (Un)limited Design Contest website to learn more or submit your entry (deadline 9 September 2010). The winning design will be announced at PICNIC '10! (Un)limited Design Contest is a project by Premsela and Waag Society, in cooperation with Dutch Fablabs and Creative Commons Netherlands.
