People who watched idiot cop show Reno 911! know Thomas Lennon plays dumb better than Will Ferrell, Steve Carell or any number of more famous clown princes. Now Lennon gets a chance to act really stupid – in outer space.
FX network execs told a gathering of TV critics Tuesday in Beverly Hills, California, that Lennon and Reno 911! partner Ben Garant will create a semi-improvised TV pilot called U.S.S. Alabama for the cable channel.
The show's dim characters will trample comedically all over the familiar claustrophobic-crew-isolated-on-a-lengthy-interstellar-voyage predicament typified in last year's TV movie Virtuality.
According to The Wrap, FX will air U.S.S. Alabama in 2011 if the pilot is picked up.
