Dead Media Beat: Google TV

*So, Apple's TV gets the full-scale reality distortion field, but Google's TV... Google silently appropriates that crotchety analog medium without even bothering to place a magazine ad or take out a billboard. Google seizing TV is like a cowboy mogul absently pulling over in his pickup to corral an unbranded steer. Straight to the butcher shop. Be in white freezer-paper in no time.

*And, somehow, Sony, Amazon and Intel all get a word in about Google's effort, too. "TV? Oh yeah. Television. I guess we heard of that. Okay, Google, fine."

*Remember (or ever heard of) when TV stars used to be, like, ex-vaudeville guys? Hoofer guys with straw hats and canes, on black and white screens, who would spin plates on the end of pool cues, that kind of archaic "entertainment"? Yeah. That's what television itself feels like, now. Television has become an Android app. It's jet-age kitsch, like watching a lava lamp.
