*This IEEE Spectrum guy is insightful about the life-cycle analysis. With its fabulous ability to create neologisms and new layers of bureaucracy, life-cycle analysis looks kinda horrifying. But our inability to grapple with the lifecycles of objects is a measure of our ignorance of what we are doing to ourselves.
