*See, this is not "vernacular video." This is a conventional movie trailer for a Bollywood vehicle directed by Farah Khan, which looks silly as all get-out, but is very likely indeed to make a mint. Because she generally does.
*The interesting part is when this director explains on Twitter WHY she had to place her own trailer on YouTube. "If you can't beat them, join them." Farah is trying to upstage the pirates.
*Another interesting detail is that, thanks to Twitter, I am viewer #300-something for this effort, when this Indian YouTube masala fodder is bound to reap 300,000+ hits in jig-time. Farah must be over there x time zones away, typing her head off right now, as I blog this.
*One of the many appealing things about Farah Khan (charismatic female Bollywood film director and mother of three, etc), is that Farah tweets in "Hindi Film English." Most Bollywood film stars are into a rather mannered, formal-sounding, I-Am-a-Star English, but Farah is the picture of movie-biz-chick authenticity, and she lets rip with authentic filmi pidgin, yaar.
